Transportation
Of course, living near the freeway is especially convenient if you commute to work or to school. At its north point in the city, I-75 is close to Santa Fe College and Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. Traveling south from there, the interstate runs alongside Town Center Shopping Center, North Florida Regional Medical Center and The Oaks Mall; Split Rock Conservation Area; Butler Plaza and Gainesville Country Club. As it leaves the southern end of the city, I-75 cuts through Sweetwater Wetlands Park.
The interstate is especially useful to commuters for its intersection with some of Gainesville’s most convenient east-west expressways and highways. While the interstate doesn’t run through north Gainesville, it’s a convenient connector to quick east-west thoroughfares. These connections include highways like State Road 232 and State Road 222 that make travel to the airport and northeastern Gainesville simple. In central and southern Gainesville, I-75's connections to State Road 26 and State Road 24 offer the ideal routes to University of Florida.
Apartments
If traffic noise is a concern for you, you can find plenty of apartments that are close to the interstate but not within audible range of the freeway. If the apartments are adjacent to the interstate, simply ask if there is any special soundproofing provided to muffle the sound. Many of these communities have landscaping and exterior walls that buffer the sound of the interstate. Some may also have suggestions for interior soundproofing.

A few of these apartment communities also boast business centers and clubhouses.
If you’re looking for off-campus student housing, there are many options along I-75, but most are located near Gainesville’s southwest section of the interstate. Most of these student lifestyle apartment communities provide furnished units, flexible lease options and roommate matching services. Many have bus stops at their entrances so students have easy access to public transit to the university and downtown.
Lakeside apartment communities are also popular options in Gainesville, and several are located near the interstate. These are particularly appealing to residents who want a waterfront townhouse or apartment. Huntington Lakes and Lakewood Villas are just two of Gainesville's apartment communities offering water views near the interstate.
In all, more than 30 apartment communities are located near Interstate 75, so you have many residential options. Be sure to make a list of the other amenities, floor plans and leasing options that are important to you so you can narrow your list down more easily.
