The close proximity of Sunrise Villas to the University of Florida campus make this a perfect apartment complex for students who prefer to walk to classes. It is a short five-minute walk north along SW 23rd Terrace and across NE State Road 24 to the southern boundaries of the campus. In 15-20 minutes, students can arrive on foot at the Reitz Student Union, Florida Museum of Natural History, or other main campus destinations.
The Regional Transit System of Gainesville also serves the complex with routes 9, 19, 35, 36, and 37. Route 19 offers service directly between SW 23rd Terrace and the Reitz Student Union every weekday between 8:10 a.m. and 10:18 a.m. with pickups every 30 minutes. The other routes provide convenient transfers to the complex at other times of the day and can require 10-44 minutes of travel time depending on the campus destination.
Those who prefer to use their own vehicles to drive to campus can reach most locations in 5-10 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic. Most students prefer to walk, bike, or take the bus in order to avoid the hassle of parking in a campus commuter lot. It is less than two miles to the heart of the campus.
Sunrise Villas is conveniently located near many retail and dining establishments. Some of these can be reached by walking in as little as ten minutes. There is a Circle K on Archer Road just over a half-mile away which has gas, snacks, and coffee for those with early classes. Further on Archer Road is a Starbucks that is approximately one mile from the complex.
Dining options in the area include Casino’s Pasta and Pizza on Archer Road, the Peach Valley Cafe on SW 34th Street, and Carrabba’s Italian Grill which is also on SW 34th. All of these restaurants are less than one mile from the apartment complex. Most students do their grocery shopping at the Publix or WalMart, both of them slightly more than a mile away.
Those looking for a nightclub or bar will find many choices two miles away and closer to the campus. These include Balls, the Salty Dog Saloon, and Backstage Lounge. A closer option is the Brass Tap on Archer Road.
