Uptown Village at Townsend is located about four miles north of the University of Florida’s Gainesville campus. If you have a car, you can reach most campus parking lots within 15 minutes in light traffic. This includes the park-and-ride lots, and you have the option of biking or walking to most areas of campus within an additional 10 or 15 minutes.
For the fastest route to the university, take NW 24th Boulevard north to NW 39th Avenue. Turn right onto NW 13th Street and go straight until you reach University Avenue. This road travels along the northern edge of campus, and a right turn will take you to some of the university’s recreational facilities. This includes President’s Park, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and the Sanders Football Practice Field.
You can also continue straight on 13th Street to reach parking areas on the eastern edge of campus. The closest parking lot in this area is near Criser Hall. This will place you close to the Graduate School of Business, the Warrington College of Business and Carleton Auditorium.
It takes about 80 minutes to walk to the northern edge of campus from Uptown Village, but you can make the bike ride in under 30 minutes. You will need additional time to reach campus facilities further south.
Do you prefer to use public transportation? It takes just a few minutes to walk from the apartment complex to the RTS bus stops on NW 39th Avenue. Take the route 8 bus headed east towards Shands to reach the northeastern corner of campus in about 40 minutes. This places you at Tigert Hall, which is close to the graduate and undergraduate business schools and Plaza of the Americas. You will need additional time to bus, walk or bike to other areas of interest.
The bus stops near the apartment complex are connected to routes 8 and 39. These buses will take you to many points of interest northeast and northwest of campus. You also have the option of connecting with additional bus routes on campus. This allows you to reach most areas of Gainesville without private transportation.
Uptown Village places you within walking or biking distance of a Sonic Drive-In and several recreational attractions, including Springtree Park, Greentree Park and Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park. You can find additional parks and a variety of retail stores about two miles to the south at Gainesville Plaza on NW 13th Street.
