Apartments on University Avenue Gainesville

If football at The Swamp isn’t your thing, the avenue also runs alongside many of the campus’ important academic buildings. These buildings include the new state-of-the-art Chemistry building, Hernandez Hall, as well as Library West, Heavener School of Business and the Warrington College of Business.

If you’re in the mood for a night out, you won’t have to travel far. University Avenue offers some of the city’s best pubs, bars, restaurants and live music venues. It also leads to even more dining, shopping and entertainment in downtown.

Apartments Along the Avenue
This close to campus, many of the apartment communities on University Avenue cater to the student population. These aren’t your typical cut-rate, bare-bones student flats though. One of the newest apartment communities on the avenue is at the corner of University and SW 13th. It’s a luxury building near UF that houses upscale student apartments with a rooftop pool and a variety of stores and restaurants, including Target, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Bento Cafe and Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill.

This community, like many of the student apartment communities near UF, offers a variety of perks. Amenities range from furnished apartments and roommate matching services to fitness centers and outdoor cabanas. Most also offer internet cafes, club houses or game rooms, individual leases and a variety of recreation facilities.

There are also a number of communities designed to meet the needs of graduate students and young professionals. These tend to be upscale communities, too, with a slightly more serious atmosphere. They often offer many of the same amenities and services as the undergraduate-focused communities such as all-inclusive utilities, fitness centers and resort-style swimming pools. You're also likely to find on-site dog parks and business lounges.

Getting Around Town from University
The avenue offers great walkability to most of Gainesville’s most popular locations. From here, you are steps from downtown, the UF campus, the Innovation Hub, Shands Hospital and golfing at University Golf Course. Biking around neighborhoods in the area is easy too.

If you prefer to ride to your destination, University is a prime spot to access the city’s public buses. There are 22 bus stops along the avenue, so you never have far to walk to catch a bus. You can also hop on a number of other buses just a few minutes away at The Hub and Reitz Union on campus.

It’s similarly easy to access destinations in more distant parts of town. If you feel like shopping at The Oaks Mall, hop on a Route 5 bus. If you need a lift to Santa Fe College, a Route 43 bus is probably your best bet. Both routes run along University, and you can pick them up at various points along the avenue.

For a late-night ride to entertainment and back home, you can hop on a Later Gator A, C or D bus. The buses run Wednesday through Saturday nights, giving you a safe ride home until almost 3 a.m.
