Students at the University of Florida who want to be close to the action on campus but need a peaceful place to call home will love Margaret Manor. The spacious, two-bedroom floor plans are perfect for roommates to share without feeling quiet. Each apartment features lovely, fully equipped kitchens, private patios or balconies, and lots of upgrades!
One of the most attractive features of Margaret Manor is its close proximity to campus, shopping, and dining! Located on SW 5th Avenue, students can walk or ride a bicycle to campus easily. Simply walk or bike west on SW 5th Avenue for three blocks, pass the Department of Education, and cross SW 13th Street. At that point, you are just steps from the Architecture and Fine Arts Library.
Students who have classes near Library West on the northern part of campus will find it’s only a 15-minute walk and less than 10 minutes by bicycle. That part of campus is easy to get to either by going north on SW 13th Street or north on Newell Drive, which goes through campus.
The southern side of campus is a bit farther, but the College of Nursing is only 20 minutes by foot and 10 minutes by bike. The College of Pharmacy and the College of Veterinary Science buildings are nearby, too. The easiest way to reach the southern part of campus is to follow Inner Road to Newell Drive and head south.
When you aren’t in class, there are plenty of things to do near Margaret Manor. There are great local pubs and restaurants along University Avenue, just a few blocks north. Leonardo’s By the Slice and Pascal’s Coffeehouse are popular local spots. Conveniently, there is a Publix Grocery Store on the corner of University Avenue and 13th Street, so it’s easy to get your necessities, too!
If you want to go shopping or see a movie, some of the favorite Gainesville spots are Butler Plaza and The Oaks Mall. Butler Plaza is located at SW 34th Street and Archer Road, so while it is a bit too far to walk, it’s only about 10 minutes by car when you go from SW 13th Street to SW Archer Road and follow it west. Butler Plaza is home to Target, Best Buy, Old Navy, and other great shopping and dining options, plus there’s a large movie theater.
The Oaks Mall is located on Newberry Road, and residents will find going a few blocks north to 8th Avenue, then turning left to head west is the easiest path. NW 8th Avenue turns into Newberry Road, so it’s a direct route. The Oaks Mall has great shopping and dining in the mall, and there are plenty of shopping options in the surrounding area.
Students wanting to use public transit are only a block from the bus stop on the #10 route. This popular route goes from the Rosa Parks Transfer Station to Santa Fe. From the transfer station, you can reach nearly any part of Gainesville, with the #1 route going to Butler Plaza, while the #5 takes you to the Oaks Mall.
