Transportation
Casablanca West is located to the south of the University of Florida campus on SW 35th Place in what is known as the Archer Road area of Gainesville. Residents of this apartment complex generally prefer to use their own vehicle to drive to school. By car, the campus can be reached in 10-15 minutes depending on the volume of traffic. The easiest route is to take Highway 121 to the western edge of the campus.
Public transportation in the area is provided by the Regional Transit System. Routes serving the complex include No. 9, No. 35, No. 36, and No. 37. The most convenient of these is Route 35 which runs between the Reitz Student Union and SW 35th Place. This bus runs every 10 to 44 minutes Monday-Friday. Typically, it takes an average of 15-20 minutes to travel from the apartments to campus by bus.
Those who choose to walk to campus can expect an average walk time of 30-40 minutes. The preferred pedestrian route would be to take SW 23rd Terrace across NE State Road 24 to the southern campus edge. The same route is suitable for those who choose to bike and takes approximately 20-25 minutes.

The Archer Road area of Gainesville offers many restaurants, retail outlets, and shopping centers within a reasonable distance of Casablanca West. Butler Plaza is located on the north side of Archer Road and is the area’s largest retail district. In this area students will find over 100 stores and restaurants.
Popular stores in Butler Plaza include WalMart, Target, Lowes, Best Buy, and Old Navy. There is also a Publix market in the plaza for convenient grocery shopping. Many restaurants of both the fast food and sit-down variety are located in the plaza. These include Taco Bell, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, and many other popular franchises.
Archer Road also boasts numerous entertainment venues which include the largest Regal Cinema in Gainesville and the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. The Gainesville Ale House & Bar is a great place to unwind with friends after a long day of classes or exams.
