About Ridgemar Commons

Transportation

The Ridgemar Commons apartment complex is located approximately two miles south of the University of Florida in Gainesville. You can drive to the edge of campus in about 5 minutes if you take SW 34th Street north from the apartments. This road travels along the western border of the campus and will take you to the Fifield Hall parking garage in under 10 minutes without traffic. This area will leave you close to the Lake Alice recreational areas and the Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. From the parking lot, you can walk or ride a bike to any area of campus in less than 30 minutes. There are more parking lots further north and east.

While it will take about an hour to walk to the center of campus from this apartment complex, you can bike to this area in under 20 minutes. This allows you to reach all areas of campus in under an hour. You can also bike to many recreational areas, bars, restaurants and shopping centers in other areas of Gainesville, so it’s possible to enjoy this city without private transportation.

You also have access to the RTS busing system from this apartment community. The closest bus stop is in front of the apartment complex, and that stop is connected to more than five routes traveling to destinations throughout Gainesville. There are additional stops along SW 34th Street, allowing you to reach most areas of the city with the right connections.

To reach the university by bus, board the route 35 or route 12 bus headed toward Reitz Union. You should reach the Rawlings Hall stop in about 20 minutes, leaving you near the Broward Outdoor Recreational Complex, the Marston Science Library and Beaty Towers. The route 34 bus will take you to the northeastern border of campus near the HUB in about 30 minutes.

Things Nearby

The Ridgemar Commons apartments are located about four miles from Bivens Arm Nature Park and Sweetwater Wetlands Park. These parks provide opportunities for outdoor relaxation and exercise in addition to the green spaces available on the UF campus. The community is within walking and biking distance of Indian and Italian restaurants, and more dining options are scattered along NE State Road 24. While this isn’t the most popular area for nightlife, the apartments are a short drive or bike ride from Miller’s Ale House.
