Near UF Law School you’ll find the University Golf Course, University Park’s Arboretum and the peaceful Law School Woods. To the law school's east, sport and recreation centers abound, including Ring Tennis Pavilion, the basketball practice facility and Pressly Stadium. Just beyond those recreation sites is one of the most lively facilities, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, affectionately known as The Swamp.
Just south of the law school, there are even more areas to enjoy nature, wildlife and recreation near UF. Harmonic Woods, University Gardens and Lake Alice Conservation Area are a very short walk away.
The neighborhood is also close to prime off-campus sites, including Regal Cinemas Royal 16 and The Oaks Mall to the west. Walk or bike a few blocks to the east, and you’ll enjoy access to all of University Avenue’s many pubs, bars, restaurants and live musical performances.
Apartments Near UF Law School
There are two main clusters of apartment communities near the law college. Five or six blocks to the west is a wide array of apartment developments near the intersection of SW 2nd Avenue and SW 34th Street. Here you’ll enjoy views of the colorful 34th Street Wall, the campus’ many wooded areas and Hogtown Creek.
Many of the apartment communities in this area boast spacious units ranging in size from about 550 square feet to about 1,100 square feet. These cheap apartments are often quiet communities that are perfect for serious students and professionals. They’re within walking and biking distance of shopping at the nearby Publix Supermarket and Plato’s Closet. Several restaurants and services are also within a couple of blocks of the cheap apartments.
The other cluster of apartments is to the northeast of the law school, across University Avenue. These apartment communities are closer to the hub of UF activity, with shopping and nightlife very close by. Many of these developments are luxury apartments serving a mix of graduate student and undergraduate student lifestyles. There’s a nice range of apartment styles and types here, from lofts to four-bedroom units.
Getting Around Town from the Law School Neighborhood
Whether you choose apartments to the west or northeast of the law college, you can easily bike to campus from home. The path to the apartments west of the law school is very pleasant, with a wide sidewalk/bike path leading most of the way along SW 2nd Avenue. The route from University Avenue-area apartments is a little more heavily trafficked but still a pleasant ride.
Bus stops are conveniently abundant along University Avenue, SW 2nd Avenue and SW 34th. These plentiful bus stops make riding the local bus system near UF and around Gainesville a breeze. Routes in the area offer service to The Oaks Mall, Santa Fe College, Butler Plaza and downtown. On campus, you can also easily find a bus to get to Shands Hospital, the airport and northeast Gainesville shopping centers.
