About College Manor

Transportation

Because of its close proximity to the University of Florida campus, College Manor provides a wealth of transportation options for students. First and foremost of these is walking to the campus. From the complex many areas of the campus are literally steps away. Depending on the area students need to reach, walking can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes. It is also possible to bike to campus on most days thanks to the warm climate.

There are a number of bus routes which service this complex. These are operated by the Gainesville Regional Transit System. Routes 1, 8, 13, 16, 17, 29, 34, and 43 all have stops in the vicinity of the complex. It is most likely that residents will choose either Route 5 or 8. These buses run continuously Monday-Friday every 10-30 minutes.

Those who wish to commute with their own vehicle can be on campus in as little as five minutes depending on the volume of traffic. There are multiple commuter parking lots on school grounds which are also serviced by the Regional Transit System. Those who plan on living in this complex should be aware that parking in the Midtown area of Gainesville is always at a premium and many times requires paid permits.

Things Nearby

Midtown is one of the most lively areas of Gainesville, and College Manor is within walking distance of many popular restaurants, nightclubs, and entertainment venues. The biggest attractions in the area, of course, are those related to the University of Florida. This complex offers easy access to the university’s sports and performance venues.

The Strip is a popular area near the complex which features a large number of sports bars and other nightclubs. There are also many restaurants in this area which include Pita Pit. Another popular dining spot is Relish which offers some of the best burgers in the city. For retail shopping outlets, the Archer Road area just a few miles away has many stores like WalMart, Target, and Best Buy.

Without question, the most exciting times in this area center around Gator Gamedays. These events are coordinated to celebrate the local university sports teams. Businesses run various specials and promotions that students will enjoy.

UF Student August 2015 - July 2017

I chose the apartment cause of how close it was to campus. The greatest value I experienced from living there was how it impacted my studying. I could just walk to the library whenever to meet with classmates to have study groups, consequently, my best grades at UF came from when I was living at College Manor. Plus, the leasing staff was all young 20-somethings that really seemed to care about their jobs and residents, so every day I felt comfortable getting a free Keurig coffee in the front office with my dog.
