About Campus Point

For students and staff at the University of Florida who want to be within walking distance of campus, Campus Point is a great option. This is an eight-unit complex featuring one bedroom apartments with 800 square feet of living space. Water and trash are included in the rent, and each unit has a washer and dryer.

The biggest benefit to living at Campus Point is the location. It’s only a 15-minute walk from the south side of campus, near the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, and the Biomedical Sciences Building. To get there by foot or bicycle, the Depot Avenue Rail-Trail makes it easy and safe. The Depot Avenue Rail Trail is part of a 6.4 miles trail that connects several Gainesville neighborhoods and goes through the campus. The Campus Point Apartments are less than 150 feet from the Trail, and residents only have to walk west and cross SW 13th Street and Archer Road and onto campus.

For classes on the northeast part of campus, around Library West, the College of Business, and Tigert Hall, once you are in the southern part of campus, walk north through campus. Or, if you choose a different route, go north on SW 9th Street, make a left onto SW 6th Avenue, then walk across Norman Lawn and cross SW 13th Street. It still only takes 20 minutes by foot. An easy route to get there by car is to go north on SW 6th Street, make a left onto SW 2nd Avenue, and cross SW 13th Street to a parking area. Campus Point is also on the 126 bus route which goes all through campus and connects to several other routes, making the transit system an easy and inexpensive option.

In addition to being close to the campus, residents at Campus Point are close to restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores. There are several restaurants and bars along University Avenue and S Main Street, just a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk, making it easy to hang out with friends. A Winn-Dixie grocery store is less than five minutes away on SW 6th Street, and there’s a Publix close, too. Butler Plaza and The Oaks Mall are both popular Gainesville Destinations for shopping, dining, and going to the movies. Butler Plaza is less than 10 minutes by car via Archer Drive, and The Oaks is only 20 minutes away via W Newberry Road.
