For students seeking a home away from home while at the University of Florida, the Pavillion on 62nd is an excellent option. Located on the west side of Gainesville, we are only two and a half miles from the center of the University of Florida campus. Whether you have a bicycle, a car, or plan on taking advantage of the great transit system, our location makes commuting easy for students who don’t want to live in a dorm but still want to be close to where all the campus life and action are.
In a car, the campus is only a ten minute drive, and there are several routes to take depending on where you need to go. The easiest is to head south on 62nd Boulevard and make a left on SW 20th Avenue. From there, if you have classes on the north and north east side of campus around Tigert, Bryan, or Turlington Halls, or if you are headed to one of the libraries in that vicinity, go north on SW 34th Street and then make a right onto University Drive. If your destination is on the south side of campus near where the science and medical buildings are located, you can take a north on SW 34th Street, but you can enter campus on Huff Road. It turns into Mowry Road where there are several parking garages.
You can also use this route riding a bicycle, which takes about 20 minutes. If you don’t want to worry about navigating campus traffic, you can park at a Park and Ride station where you can park on the edge of campus and take the campus bus to where you need to go. For people choosing to take public transit, there is a bus stop on the premises and the #20 route (Reitz Union – Oaks Mall) goes right down Museum Road which is close to much of campus.
Just a five minute drive north on SW 62nd is the Oaks Mall area where there are plenty of dining and shopping options making it a great place to hang out and meet friends. This area is on the #20 and #62 bus route so you can reach this area by bike or bus, too. Grocery stores, convenient stores, and drug stores are prevalent in the area, allowing you to get all your necessities with ease, regardless of your transportation options.
