For students and staff of the University of Florida, The Palms of Archer is an excellent place to call home. The community is located in Southwest Gainesville on SW Archer Road which runs right along the south side of the University of Florida campus. For students and staff with their own transportation, it is only a 10 to 15 minute drive, and you can stay on SW Archer Road, making it an easy commute.
If you need to be on the south side of campus, near the science and medical facilities, including the Shands Teaching Hospital and the Engineering Building, there are several parking garages located just off of SW Archer Road. The Northeast part of campus, where Tigert Hall, the Fine Arts Building, and Smathers Library are located, is easily accessible by turning north on to either S Newell Drive or SW 13th Street. If you are going to the northwest side of campus, where you will find the sports complexes, including Perry Baseball Field or Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, from SW Archer Road, you can turn north onto either Gale Lemerand Drive or SW 34th Street. There are also several Park and Ride locations that let you drive to the University of Florida, then park and use campus transit to make your way across campus.
Public transit is also a great option when you live at The Palms of Archer. Located right on the #75 bus route (Oaks Mall-Butler Plaza), you can ride that route to the Butler Transfer Station where you can switch to campus transit from there to get to where you need to go. It is both easy and inexpensive, especially when you have a bus pass.
In addition to being close to the University of Florida, the community is located near to shopping, dining, and entertainment. There is a Publix grocery store, Target, and plenty of dining options located on SW Archer Road between the campus and the Palms of Archer, so it’s right on the #75 bus route and easy to get to by car, too! We are also located just a five to ten minute drive from the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, the Regal Movie Theater, and more. Living here, you are always close to where the campus action is, while still being able to enjoy off-campus life.
