For students wanting to live off campus but not wanting a long commute, Mill Run will meet that need. These two-bedroom flats offer fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer hookups, and walk-in closets, and there is a pool for relaxing after class. Students can even bring their cat or dog to make off-campus living a little more like home.
There are three good ways to reach the center of campus, at the Reitz Student Union: bicycle, car, and utilizing the campus Park and Ride #2. To reach the Reitz Student Union, and classes on the north east side of campus around Library West and Tigert Hall, go from SW 20th Avenue to SW 34th Street, which runs along the far west side of campus. SW 34th Street connects to Radio Road, which then curves into Museum Road, which goes straight through campus. At Newell Drive, you can turn left to reach classes on the northern part of campus. Students may also find taking University Avenue from SW 34th Street to be an easier way to get to north campus classes.
For students whose destination is the south side of campus, near the College of Nursing, Dentistry, or Medicine, taking SW 34th Street south to Archer Road will be the most direct route. It borders the south side of campus, and Center Drive and Newell Drive go north through campus from Archer Road.
Mill Run is less than a 15-minute walk from the University of Florida Park and Ride #2, located on Hull Road, and from there, students can take the bus straight through campus to the Reitz Student Union. The route runs from seven in the morning to seven at night, making it a convenient, affordable option.
Students that are looking for fun things to do outside of class can enjoy the pubs, restaurants, and coffee shops near and on campus. On and near University Avenue are some popular spots, including Pascal’s Coffeehouse, Leonardo’s By the Slice, and The Spot. For outdoor enjoyment, Forest Park is less than a mile away.
For shopping and dining, students living at Mill Run will like the close proximity to Butler Plaza. This shopping center houses a Publix, Target, Old Navy, and several other popular stores, restaurants, and a movie theater. At a little over a mile away on SW 34th Street and Archer Road, it may be a long walk, but it’s an easy drive or bike ride. For additional shopping, the Oaks Mall is just a few miles north, and it’s easiest to reach via Interstate 75 or bus route #20, where there is a stop just a block away from Mill Run!
