Living here, students can easily reach campus by car, bicycle, or by using the Gainesville transit system. Our community is on SW 20th Avenue, and getting to class by car will only take about ten minutes. No matter where your classes are on campus, you can get there easily by taking SW 34th Street. If you are heading to the north side of campus, near Tigert, Keene-Flint, or Turlington Halls, go north on SW 34th Street, and head east on W University Avenue, which borders the University of Florida on the north. For students going to the south side of campus, SW 34th Street connects to SW Archer Road, where there are several parking garages located near the Shands Medical Plaza.
Commuting by bicycle is easier to do by utilizing the streets that go through campus such as Museum Road and Mowry Road which run east-west and by Gale Lederman Drive and S Newell Drive which run north-south. For students who want to utilize the mass transit system, Courtney Greens is less than a five minute walk to two different bus stops. Riders can take the #20 bus route which runs directly across campus and is a short, convenient trip.
Not only is the community close to campus, but residents will find shopping, dining, and entertainment to be close by, too. The Oaks Mall and Butler Plaza are both within a ten minute drive and feature plenty of shopping and dining options, from fast food to fine dining. Also, there is a Publix Grocery and a Target at Butler Plaza so grocery and necessity shopping is easy to access. Both the Mall and Plaza are located on the bus route for those who plan to utilize the transit system.
Outdoor activities are plentiful in Gainesville, and living here, you are near numerous options. While there are several recreation facilities on campus, in addition to several parks and green spaces. Several parks are located in the vicinity that are perfect for jogging, walking your dog, or studying outside.
