Transportation
The Retreat at Magnolia Parke is located about five miles north of the University of Florida’s campus in Gainesville. While you can ride a bike or walk to the university from this apartment complex, expect it to take over an hour to reach the center of campus on foot. The bike ride is about 30 minutes, but these times are cut a bit shorter if you’re heading to the northwestern region of campus. That area includes the Mark Bostick Golf Course and the Levin College of Law.
If you have a car, you can drive to the Fifield Hall parking lot in about a half hour, and some parking lots on the northern edge of campus may reduce that commute time a little. Walking or biking to areas further south will take extra time.
For those interested in using public transportation, the closest bus stops are located along NW 39th Avenue. To reach the campus by bus, walk less than half a mile to the stop in front of NW Grille Seafood and board a route 43 bus headed to Shands. You’ll arrive at Tigert Hall in approximately 30 minutes. This area of campus is near the Little Hall, the Carleton Auditorium, Peabody Hall and Plaza of the Americas. You can also get off at other stops along the northern and eastern borders of campus.
You can reach destinations northwest of the university by catching a westbound bus from NW 39th Avenue. If you need to reach other areas of the city, take a bus to a transfer station or board the correct bus from a stop on campus. You can reach most areas of Gainesville without private transportation.
