For students and staff at the University of Florida who are seeking an affordable housing option, Pine Meadows is a popular option. This community of single-story buildings features one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments that are large and comfortable. With furnished kitchens and on-site laundry facilities, this is a convenient place to call home.
An added benefit of Pine Meadows is its easy commute to the University of Florida campus with the Reitz Student Union being only 25 minutes away by car. The best method of transportation to reach campus is by car, though the bus is also an excellent option. To drive to campus, the easiest method is to turn right onto NW 75th Street and make a right onto Newberry Road, which splits into SW 2nd Avenue and University Avenue. University Avenue borders the campus to the north.
For students and staff whose destination is in the northern part of campus, near Library West, the College of Engineering, or the College of Business, there are several side roads off of University Avenue where you can enter campus, including Newell Drive, Buckman Drive, and Gale Lemerand Drive. These streets that go through campus will take you to parking locations near your destinations.
The south side of campus houses the College of Nursing, College of Veterinary Science, and the College of Pharmacy. If this area is your destination, continue south on Newell Drive or Center Drive through campus from University Avenue. You may find taking I-75 south to Archer Road, which borders the south side of campus to be an easier method of getting to you to southern campus classes.
When you aren’t on campus or at one of the many popular restaurants and pubs near campus, Pine Meadows is close to both The Oaks Mall and Butler Plaza. The Oaks Mall is a large mall featuring great shopping options, numerous restaurants, and the surrounding area has additional shopping and dining options. It’s just on the other side of the interstate on Newberry Road. Butler Plaza is a huge shopping plaza with Target, Publix, Old Navy, and other shopping spots, in addition to several fast food and casual restaurants. Butler Plaza also houses a large movie theater.
Residents of Pine Meadow Apartments who don’t have a car find the Gainesville transit system to be a great option. Located right by a bus stop on the #75 route, residents are right on the route that runs between The Oaks Mall and the Butler Transfer Station. From the transfer station, you can easily access nearly any part of Gainesville, and with the #12 route, you can go right to the Reitz Student Union.
