Transportation
Five blocks from University of Florida’s medical buildings, Oakbrook Walk’s convenient location makes transportation around campus simple. The residences are a quick, 10-minute walk to the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry and the Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy building on the southeast corner of campus. Cycling your way to work or school here is easy, too, taking just a few minutes to this area of campus.
Once you’re on campus, you have countless other options to reach more distant areas of the university. Walking to northern Heavener Hall or Ben Hill Griffin Stadium adds about 20 minutes to your walk. Cycling is even quicker, taking 10 to 15 minutes. City buses and campus circulators can cut your walking time considerably. Route 38 buses pick up passengers at the university’s Shands Medical Center and deliver you to the Gator Corner Dining Center. From there, the stadium, Reitz Union, Rhines Hall, the College of Engineering and the College of Journalism are just a few minutes’ walk away.
For travel around town, you’ll have easy access to local buses too. To reach The Oaks Mall, you can pick up Route 20 buses at Reitz Union for a 20-minute ride to plentiful shopping. Getting to downtown’s vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment district is even easier using the local bus system. Both Routes 1 and 25 deliver you to downtown’s Hippodrome State Theatre in 30 minutes or less. Route 1 buses pick up at Norman Field, a 12-minute walk from the apartments. Route 25 buses pick up at Shands Hospital.

In addition to its convenient proximity to world-class healthcare at the university’s Shands Medical Center, Oakbrook Walk is close to dozens of restaurants and amenities. Blue Gill Quality Food is across the street, and Arby’s, Steak ‘N Shake, La Familia Cuban Sandwich Shop, Subway and Good Fortune Cafe are within five blocks. CVS is two blocks away for necessities, medication and sundries. Groceries are nearby, too, with Winn-Dixie about eight blocks from the apartments.
If you enjoy recreation, fishing or admiring nature, the apartments are also close to a number of prime parks. You’re a little more than a mile away from the bank fishing and nature trails of Colclough Nature Park. Sweetwater Wetlands Park and Bivens Arm Nature Park are just a short distance beyond Colclough.
