About Lakeshore Towers

Lakeshore Towers is known as the only high-rise apartment community in Gainesville. This 12-story building features cozy studios, spacious one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom units with two bathrooms, that are great for roommates to share. Each floor features a laundry facility and convenient trash chute, and the community offers a lovely pool and recreation room. Utilities are included in the rent, making Lakeshore Towers an economical option, too.

Students will love the easy commute from the apartment building to the University of Florida. Located on SW 13th Street, students can easily walk to the Reitz Student Union on campus in about 30 minutes and ride a bike in 15 minutes. SW 13th Street borders the campus to the east, so the easiest way to get to campus is to simply go north.

For classes on the south side of campus, near the College of Nursing, Biology, or Pharmacy buildings, students can go north on SW 13th Street, then turn left onto SW Archer Road, which borders campus along the south. Take SW Archer and go north on Center Drive or Newell Drive.

Newell Drive goes all through campus, so it’s also a good route to take to reach some of the buildings on the north side of campus, including Library West, the College of Journalism, and the College of Engineering. Students can also continue north on SW 13th Street and turn onto campus at Museum Road, Stadium Road and SW 2nd Avenue to reach classes easily.

Lakeshore Towers has a bus stop right in front of it that is on the #13 bus route which goes from Beaty Towers on campus south past SE Williston Road. It’s also on the #123 campus route which goes from the Reitz Student Union to Lake Waulburg.

When students aren’t in class, the best hang-out spots are along University Avenue near campus. Well-known local restaurants, coffee shops, and bars stretch through the area, but it’s easy to get there by going north on SW 13th Street and then making a left or right on University Avenue, depending on the destination. While it’s a bit too far to walk, riding a bicycle or driving is easy, as is taking the bus.

For necessities, a Winn-Dixie grocery store is a little over a mile away on Main Street, and there’s a CVS pharmacy and a Publix close to campus. For other shopping needs, Butler Plaza is a popular destination for Target, Trader Joes, plenty of restaurant options and a movie theater. Residents of Lakeshore can reach it by taking SW 13th Street to SW 16th Avenue, and then follow SW Archer Road. It’s only about 10 minutes by car, making it a convenient area to grab a bite, do some shopping, or take in a movie.
