Cooperative Living Organization is an economical option for University of Florida students who are seeking off-campus housing. These dorm-style apartments feature a study area, a large dining hall, recreation room, and 24-hour laundry facilities. All utilities, including high-speed internet, are included in the rent, along with a meal plan during spring and fall semesters.
University of Florida students living here will save time, parking fees, and gasoline due to the close proximity to campus. Located just a block north of University Avenue, which runs along the north side of campus, students can walk to Library West, Matherly Hall, or the College of Business in about five to ten minutes. Riding a bicycle is even quicker!
For students who need to go to the southern side of campus, near the College of Medicine or the College of Veterinary Medicine, it is still easy to get there by foot, but it takes about 35 to 40 minutes. Riding a bicycle or driving is the easiest way to get there quickly, and students can cross University Avenue at Newell Drive to reach that area. An alternate route is to take SW 13th Street, which borders campus along the east and then make a right onto SW Archer Road, which borders campus along the south. From Archer Road, you can cut through campus by using Gale Lemerand Drive or Center Drive.
There are plenty of fun things to do nearby, too. Within a five to ten minute walk, residents can get a bite to eat or a coffee at Pascal’s Coffeehouse, Leonardo’s By the Slice Pizza, Relish, or The Swamp. There are plenty of pubs and bars along University Avenue where you can meet friends, and you’re still close to campus activities, too!
For necessities, a Publix Grocery is just a few minutes by foot or bike on W. University Avenue and NW 13th Street. At Butler Plaza, there are dozens of stores, including Target, Old Navy, and Best Buy, and, while it’s a bit far to walk, you can drive or bike there in about 20 minutes by going south along SW 13th Street and then making a right onto SW Archer Road.
If you prefer to take the bus to get to where you need to go, the closest bus stop is less than a block away on University Avenue. It is on the #5 and #43 city routes and several campus routes. Easily reach the south side of campus, The Oaks Mall, Santa Fe Community College, and other locations inexpensively and efficiently.
