About College Park

Transportation

The distance to the University of Florida campus from College Park is one mile or less depending on the specific destination. Because the apartments are in such close proximity to the campus, many students prefer to walk, bike, or use a scooter to reach their classes. It can take between 10-30 minutes with any of these methods to arrive at a desired campus location.

For those who do not wish to walk, the Regional Transit System of Gainesville provides multiple bus routes which run seven days a week. In most cases, residents of the complex will wish to take bus routes 5 or 8. Both of these are available every 10-30 minutes during the weekdays. They also run a limited schedule on the weekends.

By car, most areas of the campus can be reached in anywhere from 5-15 minutes depending on the traffic and the time of day. It is possible to park in one of the commuter lots on campus and then take an RTS bus to more specific locations.

Things Nearby

College Park sits in the heart of Midtown Gainesville and is located near many restaurants and nightspots that celebrate Gator Pride. Some of the biggest celebrations in the city are Gator Gamedays. These events are held in various businesses near the complex whenever the sports teams of the university compete. There are often dining promotions and specials which residents can enjoy.

Retail shopping and grocery shopping can be found in the Archer Road area which is a few miles away. There are Publix markets and also a Winn-Dixie in addition to a WalMart Supercenter and a Target. Fast food restaurants in this area include Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Arby’s and more.

Of course, the most popular area in Midtown Gainesville for college students is the Strip. This area is just minutes away from the apartment complex and has many sports bars and nightclubs where students can relax after a stressful day of classes. It is entirely possible to walk from the Strip to the apartments. College culture dominates this area of the city, and most businesses reflect that.
