About The Laurels

Transportation

If you drive south on SW 34th Street from the southwestern corner of the University of Florida’s Gainesville campus, you’ll reach The Laurels Apartments in approximately five minutes. 34th Street runs along the western edge of campus and offers a direct route south to the apartment complex.

You can drive to the Fifield Hall parking area in under 10 minutes, and the Commuter Lot toward the center of campus is less than 15 minutes away without traffic. Both of these lots will place you a short walk from most campus facilities, and the Commuter Lot is close to many of Gainesville’s medical facilities. This includes the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center and the UF Health Medical Plaza.

It takes about an hour to walk to the center of campus from The Laurels, but you can bike to most university facilities within 30-40 minutes. Simply travel straight on 34th Street and turn right onto any road that leads to your desired area of campus. Hull Road leads to the Fifield parking lot. You can turn right on Archer Road to reach the medical school and surrounding medical facilities on the southern edge of campus.

Do you prefer to take the public bus? If so, there is a bus stop right in front of the apartment complex. Take the route 36 bus headed from the post office to Reitz Union to reach the center of campus in under 40 minutes. This stop will leave you near Rawlings Hall, which is close to the School of Construction Management, the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and the McCarty Woods recreational area. The route 35 bus will take you to the same area.

The bus stop in front of the apartment complex is only connected to routes 35 and 36. You can catch additional buses from campus or from one of the city’s main bus stations. This allows you to reach most areas of Gainesville, eliminating the need for private transportation.

Things Nearby

This apartment complex is convenient to Interstate 75 and the post office. You can drive approximately five minutes north to Archer Road to reach a variety of restaurants and retail stores, and the Gainesville Country Club is about a five-minute drive to the south. You’ll also find a popular karaoke lounge and many bars serving the student population within a mile of The Laurels. The closest recreational areas are located on campus, but there are many gyms and fitness centers within a mile of the apartments.
