Transportation
Located south of the University of Florida campus, Savannah Place is less than two miles from most important campus locations. Walking to school can be done in 15-25 minutes depending on the destination. Biking options are excellent with most of the terrain being flat and containing safe biking lanes. Reaching campus by bike can take 10-15 minutes.
The Regional Transit System of Gainesville serves the apartment complex with bus routes 9, 19, 35, 36, and 37. One of the most popular of these routes is 19 which runs from the Reitz Student Union to SW 23rd Terrace near the complex. This route operates on a 30-minute schedule Monday-Friday in the morning hours. Students will need to take one of the other routes if traveling to campus in the afternoons. Bus rides can take between 10 and 40 minutes depending on the route and the time of day.
Those who prefer to drive their own vehicles to campus will find the journey can take as little as five minutes or as many as fifteen depending on the chosen route and traffic. There are several commuter parking lots on campus which can be accessed via NE State Road 24 and Mowry Road.
Things Nearby
Savannah Place is very close to the Archer Road section of Gainesville where students can find a variety of restaurants and retail shops. Grocery shopping can be done at the Publix or WalMart Supercenter which are both located approximately one mile from the apartment complex. There are several coffee shops less than a mile distant which include Chicken Salad Chick and Lollicup.
Restaurants in the immediate area are mostly located near Archer Road and include the Peach Valley Cafe and Po Boys Seafood & Grill. Both of these restaurants are located on SW 34th Street less than one mile away. Other restaurants nearby include Pho Hanoi and Yummy House.
A variety of nightclubs and bars can be found in the area. The most popular of these are the Backstage Lounge, Balls, and Salty Dog Saloon. Many of these clubs offer live entertainment my local and regional musical artists. There are also sports bars nearby for those who want to catch the UF athletic teams in action.
