About Lux13

Transportation
Lux13 apartments are close enough to University of Florida for easy commuting but distant enough to enjoy a quiet, suburban lifestyle. The apartments are 1.5 miles north of campus, a distance easily traveled by car in four minutes. Lux13 is closest to the northeast corner of campus and sites such as Heavener, Bryan and Matherly halls. Since the apartments are just a straight drive to campus along NW 13th Street, all of the campus’ eastern buildings are convenient, including Tigert Hall, the Fine Arts buildings and Cypress Hall. Even getting to the most distant southwest areas of campus requires only a 10-minute drive.

Residents who want to skip the hassle and cost of on-campus parking can hop on a local bus to get to UF. Route 8 buses pick up passengers at Gainesville High School, just a half block from the apartments. It travels along the east side of campus, delivering riders to Tigert Hall in mere minutes. Other Route 8 campus stops include the College of Fine Arts, Yulee Pit, Housing and Residence Education and the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry.

Travel to the west side of campus is slightly more complicated from the apartments, requiring one to two bus transfers to complete. One way to access the center and west side of campus is to pick up Route 29 buses at Gainesville High School and transfer to Route 120 buses at Turlington Hall. Route 120 continues on to sites along Museum Road such as University Gardens.

Bicycling to campus is a viable alternative, particularly if you are heading to west campus sites like the Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Institute and Harn Museum of Art. The ride to the southwest area of campus can be completed in 20 minutes, and the route is mostly flat. The quickest route travels from the apartments south on NW 13th Street, cutting through campus to Museum Road and Hull Road.

Things Nearby
A block and-a-half north of Lux13, residents find a variety of services and stores, including Dollar Tree, Lucky’s Market, Goodwill and Planet Fitness. Even more stores and restaurants are another block north, across NW 23rd Avenue, in Gainesville Plaza. There, residents can shop at Burlington, Lowe’s and Big Lots.

Alfred Ring Park is just four blocks from the apartments, offering creekside hiking, a playground, picnic facilities and a wildflower garden. Other recreation is also nearby, including Loblolly Woods Nature Park.

What drew me to the apartment, and what I liked most about it, was that it was both pet-friendly and affordable. Also, it was close enough to UF and Downtown and the commute was easy. The apartment complex is great and is a safe area. Also close to Lucky's and other grocery stores and restaurants, which is a major plus.

The amount of space and amenities offered for the price was really great. An affordable, nice place to live. Great for college students attending either UF or Santa Fe.

Our noisy upstairs and downstairs neighbors. Upstairs neighbors stomped. Downstairs neighbors would play extremely loud music that would vibrate the floor and furniture in common area.
