Located less than a mile from campus, residents can easily drive, bike, or walk to campus. For students who choose to walk or ride a bicycle, the easiest path is to go north on SW 11th Street, then turn left onto SW 9th Avenue, where you can cross at SW 13th Street. That puts you on the east side of campus near Jennings Hall and Beatty Towers. If your classes are on the south side of campus, you may find it easier to take SW 16th Avenue to SW 13th Street, then cross onto campus by using S Newell Drive, where you will be near the College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy. Both paths take about 20 minutes by foot to reach campus and less than ten minutes by bicycle.
Traveling to campus by car generally takes less than ten minutes. For destinations on the northeast side of campus, driving from SW 16th Avenue to SW 13th Street, and from there cutting through campus using Inner Road or Museum Road, you can reach your destination. If you plan on utilizing the transit system, there is a bus stop less than two blocks away that is on the #16 route which takes you right up to campus!
Living at Frederick Gardens, you will also be close to all that Gainesville has to offer. If you want to meet friends for a drink, there are several pubs and bars on W University Avenue, only a five minute drive or 25 minute walk north, including Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub and Loosey’s. There are also lots of fast food, casual, and fine dining establishments in the area. A Winn-Dixie grocery store is less than a half a mile away, so you can walk or drive there with ease. For fun shopping, the popular Oaks Mall and Butler Plaza are both only about 20 minutes away by car.
