Transportation
The Boardwalk apartment complex is less than two miles south of the University of Florida’s Gainesville campus. You can drive to the southeastern corner of campus near the VA Medical Center and the College of Dentistry in about five minutes without traffic. Start by driving north on SW 13th Street. When you reach Archer Road, either make a left turn to enter campus from the south or continue straight to enter from the east. You’ll find Diamond Creek and the Shand’s Children’s Hospital in this corner of campus.
You should plan extra travel time to reach the parking garages and facilities further north or east, and traffic may slow your commute at certain times of the day. If you prefer to walk or bike to campus, expect it take about 30 minutes to reach the southeastern corner of campus on foot or about 10 minutes on a bike. You can also reach many parks, restaurants, retail stores and bars surrounding the apartment complex with your bike, eliminating the need for private transportation.
The RTS public busing system is also convenient to this area of Gainesville. The closest bus stop is in front of the apartment complex on SW 13th Street, and there are other stops along this road if you want to walk for exercise before boarding the bus. These bus stops connect to bus lines Later Gator D, 128 and 13, and you can connect to alternate routes from campus or the main bus stations. This allows you to use public transportation to reach virtually any area of the city for personal and professional purposes.
