Transportation
3rd Place at Midtown is located approximately one mile from the northeastern corner of the University of Florida. This area of campus is home to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Reitz Union and Plaza of the Americas. You can walk to all of these facilities within five minutes, and it takes about 20 more minutes to walk to the center of campus or to points further south and west. If you have a bicycle, then the commute time is even shorter.
It takes just a few minutes to drive from these apartment homes to the parking areas in the eastern half of campus, but most students don’t rely on private transportation to reach the university. If you commute to other areas of Gainesville regularly for work or other purposes, a car will make it easier due to the limited bus routes in this area.
If you do need to reach areas of the city beyond campus and Midtown but don’t have a personal vehicle, you can walk south on NW 8th Street to reach the bus stops along University Avenue. This road is connected to the route 5 bus line, which runs straight across Gainesville to the west and east of the university. This will take you to any restaurant, bar, park and small business located close to University Avenue. If you want to reach areas further south, you can connect with buses on other routes or walk to bus stops located in other areas of campus.
Things Nearby
This location isn’t the most connected when it comes to the public bus routes, but it is within walking distance of virtually everything a student will need to live comfortably. Besides a short commute to the UF campus, the rental units are a short walk or bike ride from Midtown. This area is home to some of Gainesville’s most popular restaurants, including Italian Gator Pizza, Relish Big Tasty Burgers, The Spot and Grill Fresh. There are also some bars and nightclubs in the area, including the Salty Dog Saloon. All of these businesses are less than half a mile from 3rd Place at Midtown.
For outdoor recreation, many students walk or bike to some of the green spaces and ponds located on campus. Those with private transportation may drive to some of the scenic areas within two miles of the rental units, including Hogtown Creek Greenway, Alfred A. Ring Park and the Westside Recreation Center.
