About Varsity House

Transportation

The Varsity House apartment complex is located less than one mile west of the University of Florida. You can walk to the western edge of campus in less than 15 minutes, and the bike ride takes about five minutes. This area of campus includes the Harn Museum of Art, the Florida Museum of Natural History, the Natural Area Teaching Laboratory and the Southwest Recreation Center.

It takes about 40 minutes to walk to the center of campus near Hume Field, and the bike ride takes about 10 minutes. You can reach most areas of campus further east within one hour on foot or 30 minutes on a bike.

If you prefer to take public transportation, the closest bus stop is a one-minute walk from the Varsity House complex. This stop is at Village Point 4 on the corner of SW 37th Street and Hull Road. You can board bus routes 117 and 126 from this area, which will take you to many restaurants, shopping centers and recreational facilities located northeast and northwest of campus.

To reach campus by bus, walk eastbound about half a mile to the Florida Department of Agriculture. The bus stop at this building connects with more than five RTS bus routes heading to various points of interest throughout the city. The route 34 bus will take you to bus stops along the western and northern edges of campus, and the route 20 bus cuts through the center of campus to Reitz Union. You can also take this bus route to The Oaks Mall, which is the location of many restaurants and retail stores.

Do you have private transportation? You can drive to the commuter parking lot near Hume Field in approximately 10 minutes with light traffic. Take Mowry Road north to Hull Road, and then continue east until the road cuts to the north slightly and turns back into Mowry Road. Continue east to Gale Lemerand Drive, which will take you north to the commuter lot. This parking area is close to many of the green spaces on campus, including Hume Pond and Lake Alice.

The University House places you a short walk or bike ride from many campus dining options and recreational facilities. You can also venture less than two miles south to reach Regal Cinemas, Butler Plaza West and a long list of retail stores and restaurants.
