The 13th Street Apartments are located less than a mile northeast of the University of Florida campus, and you can drive to the center of campus in under five minutes even with a bit of traffic. The apartment complex sits on the corner of NW 13th Street and NW 7th Avenue, and the fastest route to campus is to drive south on 13th until you cross over University Avenue. This places you on the eastern edge of campus near the College of Business, and you can make a right turn on any road to find a parking lot or garage.
The northeastern corner of campus is less than a 30-minute walk from the apartment complex and is home to several university libraries, the Broward Outdoor Recreational Complex and the Plaza of the Americas. You will have to walk a bit longer to reach facilities located further north or west, but many students do walk or ride bikes to campus from this area of Gainesville.
If you prefer to use public transportation, you can catch a route 8 bus right across 13th Street from the apartment complex. The southbound bus will take you to multiple stops on the eastern edge of campus as well as to Gainesville restaurants, bars, shopping centers and entertainment venues located south of campus. Catching the southbound bus will take you north of campus. If you connect with other bus routes along the way, you can reach any destination in Gainesville.
13th Street is one of the most popular roads for student housing, so you’ll find many bars, restaurants and small businesses catering to the university crowd. You can walk to Govinda’s Bakery & Café, SweetBerries Eatery and Frozen Custard and a variety of restaurants serving everything from pizza to Mexican cuisine. There are also many medical facilities within a mile of the apartment complex, including Planned Parenthood, a general medical center and a dental office.
If you enjoy socializing after class, you’ll also find some bars, pubs and hookah shops within a mile of the apartment complex. You can easily walk or ride a bike to enjoy a night out on the town, and the bus is always there to take you further down 13th Street as needed.
